When Is The JLPT Held?

The JLPT is conducted twice a year, in July and December. In 2026 the first test is on Sunday, 5 July and the second test is on Sunday, 6 December. The dates for each following year, and the registration window, are announced by the organisers, so check the official JLPT website for the current notification.

Because the registration window usually closes well before the exam, it is best to decide on your target session early and plan your preparation backwards from it.

How Does Registration Work?

You register separately for the exam. The general process looks like this.

  1. Step 1: Pick your level. Beginners choose N5.
  2. Step 2: Watch for the announcement. The organisers publish the dates, fee and test centres for each session.
  3. Step 3: Apply online. Create an account on the official site and fill in your details within the window.
  4. Step 4: Pay the fee and keep your admit card. Carry it, with ID, on the exam day.
Details, fees and centres change. We help our students with the process, but always rely on the official notification for the current rules.

Planning Your Preparation

Our JLPT N5 batch starts on 15 November 2026 and prepares students for next year's exam, the July 2027 session. That leaves months to cover the full N5 syllabus, revise and take mock papers without rushing.

A structured course keeps you on schedule. The EduFest batch covers the writing systems, grammar, vocabulary, kanji and listening, with mock practice towards the end.
