Solutions for every exercise of this chapter, with each question worked step by step.
Chapter 13 Two Variables, One Line: key results and formulas
- Standard form: ax + by + c = 0, with a and b not both zero. It has infinitely many solutions.
- Slope = riserun = y2 − y1x2 − x1. In y = mx + d, m is the slope and d the y-intercept.
- For a₁x + b₁y + c₁ = 0 and a₂x + b₂y + c₂ = 0: if a1a2 ≠ b1b2 there is one solution; if all three ratios are equal there are infinitely many; if the first two are equal and the third differs there is none.
- Solve by substitution, by elimination, or graphically (the point where the two lines meet).
